The 30-year fixed mortgage rate is currently 3.43% (bankrate.com). While the 30-year mortgage rate has been falling so far this year, that trend may begin to reverse as 8 of the 12 regional bank boards voted to increase rates by a quarter of a percentage point. This is the first time since the last hike that the majority support a hike (Bloomberg). Four of those in favor vote on the FOMC, while one vote against also participates in FOMC meetings.
